Add-on Overview: Real Time Plant Costing

This module uses the Space Rental Approach to plant costing. This module has tools to manage various parameters that will be used to calculate plant costs in real time by tracking spending on input expenses.

Note: Initial setup for this module can be time-intensive, but once setup is complete, the data about plant costs can be very valuable.

What does it do?​

  • The Plant Costing icon Plant Costing tool uses the following measures to help determine plant costs: location square footage; container dimensions and plant spacing and soil type for items; container, soil, and origin costs; and overhead operating expenses.
  • Costs determined using this tool will be available to view when making business decisions and pricing your products.

Who needs it?​

  • A nursery that is motivated to understand the true costs of items they grow.
  • A nursery wanting to understand which items are the most profitable.
  • A nursery who wants to make more data-driven decisions.

What changes will I see?​

  • The Plant Costing icon Plant Costing tool will be added in the production icon Production ribbon menu.
