Add-on Overview: Production Planning & Scheduling

Production planning allows for creating a future sales forecast based on historical data and simplifies management scheduled production tasks and space planning. Basic data flow in production consists of the following:

  1. Growing Profiles
  2. Sales Plan
  3. Production Batches and Production Schedule
  4. Task Lists

Growing Profile​

The first step is to define a growing profile or recipe of how you produce or grow a plant for each size. Growing profile can be one or more steps and includes the following information

  1. Production Method (buy, propagation, graft, shift, shape, etc.)
  2. What are you starting from (cutting, seed, or another size you are potting up like from liner)
  3. What is the finishing size (you specific size, like liner, 1 gal, etc.)
  4. What percent of loss you would expect
  5. What is the growing duration
  6. Other default information (what soil type used, whether is spaced or pot to pot when planted, vendor info if you are buying, etc.)

You can have any number of growing profiles for a plant size with one set as default. Any one of them can be later used to create a production schedule.

To manage growin profiles, navigate to production icon Production and then growing profile icon Growing Profiles.

Sales Plan​

The next step is to create plan year and determine what, how many and what size you want to sell for the plan year. To determine this number you can view following info on screen.

  1. Historical data (What you sold, planted, dumped, etc)
  2. What customers you sold to
  3. Prior Plan history (what you planned in previous years with actuals)
  4. What you currently have in inventory and booked on orders
  5. What is currently in production schedule

To manage sales plans, navigate to production icon Production and then planning view icon Planning Views > sales view icon Sales Plan View.

Production Plan​

Once your Growing Profiles and Sales Plans have been setup, now you need to decide when you want that plan to start or finish and confirm the plan. Once confirmed, you can use whole number or split the plan to one or more batches to be started or finished at different times of the year. If there is a growing profile associated for the size, then the production schedule will be automatically created, or you can assign a specific growing profile to create a production schedule manually.

When production plan icon Production Plans are created, then production schedule icon Production Schedule and production tasks icon Tasks Lists can be managed.

Space Management​

The space mgt icon Space Management screen is designed to provide a visual reference of current and projected space utilization accross farms and locations.
