Master Items Library Detail Description

The Master Items Library is a catalog of the plant types used at the nursery, with botanical, cultural, and other information stored. The data stored here will be passed down every time a new Item Size is created, avoiding the need to re-enter that information again and again. This article contains a detailed description of all the fields and information stored in the Master Items Library.

Finding the Master Items Library​

  1. Navigate to Inventory Icon Inventory, then Master Items & Sizes Library Icon Master Items & Sizes.
  2. Be sure you are viewing the Master Items tab in the left pane.
  3. Click Add Item on the top bar to create a new master item and populate the core fields prompted for in the popup window.
  4. Search for and double click on the new (or existing) item in the left list, or highlight and click Edit Item on the top bar to view and set additional fields.

The information in this tab contains important information that is used throughout eGrow Connect.

  • System ID: An autogenerated numerical identifier for the master item.
  • Alternate ID: A place for you to add an additional identifier, if needed, that my include alphanumeric characters.
  • Status: Toggle to indicate if this item is active or discontinued
  • Family/Genus/Species: Part of a plant's biological classification into a group of plants with similar features
  • Cultivar: Cultivar means cultured variety. This is a term used for a human cultivated classification
  • Latin Name: Each plant has a unique Latin name (Example: Thuja occidentalis ‘Emerald Green’)
  • Common Name: An alternative trade name used for this item (Example: Arborvitae, ‘Emerald’)
  • Short Name: A shortened version of the Latin name. This is the name used most frequently throughout eGrow Connect for efficiency. (Thuja ‘Emerald’)
  • Custom Name: An alternative naming option, if needed.
  • Category: The type of plant (ie. Edible, Annual, Shrub, etc.). Categories can be created and adjusted in System Setup
  • Flag Color: Select a color to be used for identifying tags or ribbons (requires the B&B Add-on)
  • Patented: Toggle Yes or No to indicate if this plant is patented
  • Patent Number: If patented, include number here
  • Patent Info: Other patent information (Example: patent expiration date)
  • Royalty/plant: Enter the royalty payment per plant in this box.
  • HTS Code: The harmonized tariff schedule (HTS) is the primary source to classify goods imported and exported from the country, used by the United States Customs and Border Protection as a means to record international trade activity by product and collect duties and taxes.
  • Origin: Where plant was grown.
